Empowering Tomorrow: Orixine Joins Quearex Tech to Inspire Young Minds with AI and Robotics at International Code Week!
Abuja’s Government Senior Secondary School (GSS) Kubwa became a hub of innovation as the Quearex Tech Empowerment Foundation hosted a two-day program celebrating International Code Week.
Held from October 30-31, 2024, the event, themed “AI & Robotics: Engineering Young Minds for the Future Workspace,” aimed to immerse students in the world of artificial intelligence and robotics, with a mission to prepare them for an increasingly tech-driven future.
Orixine Consulting joined Quearex Tech and other partners to support this inspiring event, which brought together students and educators from ten local schools. The opening day kicked off with a welcome speech by Mr. Uche, the program’s facilitator, followed by an interactive session encouraging participants to network and exchange ideas.
Quearex Tech’s director, Mr. Agbo Sunday, officially launched the event, emphasising the importance of AI and robotics in shaping tomorrow’s workforce. He was followed by Mrs. Ubong, the first keynote speaker, who engaged students with a presentation on the fundamentals, significance, and challenges of AI and robotics.
In a hands-on approach, Mrs. Ubong led students through practical activities and emphasised the competitive aspect of the program, where participation could lead to valuable prizes.
Adding to the excitement, Mr. Dominic, assistant director at Quearex, announced that the competition’s overall winner would represent Nigeria at the World AI Competitions in Mexico, energising the young audience to give their best effort.
Throughout the event, session coordinators Mr. Etim and Mr. Mathew led practical workshops where students learned the basics of coding and working with hardware. Guided exercises included powering LEDs on breadboards, a task that required the participants to successfully connect circuits using positive and negative cables—a challenge they met with enthusiasm and teamwork, and showcasing their teamwork and newly acquired tech skills.
The event concluded with an award-winning coding competition, during which students demonstrated their skills. In a thrilling finale, the host school, Government Senior Secondary Kubwa, claimed first place with 90 points. African Child College and Amazing High School followed closely, with 85 and 81 points, respectively. The excitement and sense of achievement were palpable as students celebrated their hard work and new understanding of AI and robotics.Orixine Consulting is proud to support Quearex Tech’s mission to nurture tech-driven skills in young minds, fostering a new generation of innovators and problem-solvers.
